Deyan Semkov: The Sculptor Who Breathes Life into Metal

The Transformation - From the Precision of Craft to the Form of Art
My journey began amidst the structures of industrial welding and the strict techniques of blacksmith apprenticeship. This early schooling in discipline and precision granted me mastery over cold metal. Through self-teaching, I evolved into a metal sculptor, combining this solid artisan foundation with my innate creativity.
Today, every one of my sculptures, whether forged from noble Stainless steel or from recycled wrought iron is unique. It is born from precise welding and meticulous hand-shaping. My art stands as proof of the possibility of achieving perfection through technique and vision. It is the combination of artistic talent, master craftsmanship, and a deep love for nature that has allowed my work to flourish.

The International Path: Exhibitions and Inspiring Collaborations
From 2002 until 2013, my creative work found its home in the magnetic atmosphere of Mykonos, Greece, where I exhibited at Pinelies “Art of living” and the prominent Town Hall Gallery in 2007 and 2008.
The culmination of this journey came with the prestigious collaboration with Hermès Paris. In 2010, my pieces brought the boutique windows in Athens to life with the exhibition “Living Tales,” and in 2011, they graced the stage of the Milan Fashion Weekend. These projects transformed commercial window displays into art installations, demonstrating how luxury and contemporary art can intertwine.
Over the years, my work has also found recognition on Bulgarian soil, with long-running exhibitions at the National Culture Centre in Sofia (2011 – 2019).
